Observation and experimentation. Imagine your observations
led you to believe that redwinged blackbirds decrease foraging when under predation pressure.
Note that an observed correlation between predator presence and foraging does not infer causation
between the two events.
You can experimentally test your hypothesis by flying a trained falcon over the area and observe how this affected
the amount of foraging.
