Sibling competition. In the "hierarchy model" of sib-sib competition, the dominant (usually oldest) chick (A) decides how much food to take, given that it has two siblings (B and C). Chick B, the next most dominant chick, decides what proportion of the remainder of the food it will take. Chick C receives whatever remains.
